Happy Halloween

I managed to finish coloring one page of my Halloween paper doll in time for the holiday.  Here is the Alice theme in color.  Blues for Alice, red and black for the Queen, purple/pink for the Cheshire Cat and bright colors for the Mad Hater and White Rabbit.  I am working on coloring the four other pages.

Doll Reader

Here are three antique paper dolls from Doll Reader October 1990.  These are from an article but I do not have all of the pages of the article.  There are three pantin paper dolls and one that appears to be hand made.

Stardust

Here is a darling paper doll out of Dolls Magazine from April 2014.  The artist is Diana E Vining, who has a very lovely website at www.prettypix4u.com.   She has designed lots of cute paper dolls.  This doll is an alien and reminds me of the MGA Novi Star line.  Since it is in Dolls magazine, she might be based on a doll but I cannot find any information to confirm that.

Here is my 2014 Halloween Paper Doll.  She has 5 sheets of clothing, each sheet with it's own theme.  The first theme is Alice in Wonderland featuring characters like Alice, the mad hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and the white rabbit.  The second page is fairy tale themed with Little Bo Peep, Little Red Riding Hood, Miss Muppet, and Goldilocks. The third page features characters from the Oz series including Dorothy Gale, the Wicked Witch, Glinda the Good, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Tin man, and Ozma.  The fourth page is Disney Princesses with Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Jasmine, and Ariel.  The last page features various retro sailor costumes.  I hope to color this before Halloween but I may not have time.

A single page magazine doll from Doll Reader October 1997.  There may be another page to this doll or it may have been part of an article.  I do not see an artist but it is from the United States Historical Society.  the website http://www.ushsdolls.com/paperdoll/pdarc.html sites these dolls as from the artist Leigh Anne Shuler.  There are other paper dolls on the website as well. My scanner has decided to stop talking to my computer and I have yet to resolve this issue.  I was hoping to scan in my Halloween paper doll this weekend but until I can fix the problem, that is not going to happen :(.  A new poll is now up regarding the paper doll contest.

Back in Action!

So I've got my internet up at the new house and I am settling in.  I still have paper dolls in boxes and many other things to unpack.  I will try to be updating and posting more often now.

Here is a two page Sonja paper doll by the artist Lee Collins.  This is from Doll Reader 1988.

Progress Update

I've begun editing old post as well as organizing computer files and preparing to move.  Once I am moved into a new house, I plan on scanning a large amount of larger paper doll items including some Dress-O-Graphs, uncut sets, and many more.  I am trying to put my blog on paper dolls that have more then two pages so that if an image ends up somewhere else, the person can go to the blog and find the rest of the set.  I've update my Terms and Conditions slightly.  I am working on a paper doll for Halloween as well.  I hope to keep up the blog as much as possible but activity will be slowing down.

Here is a single page newspaper doll to enjoy.

Description newspaper doll
Name: Jane Arden's Wardobe
Date:1940

This doll scanned in very crooked.  She has 4 outfits including a swimsuit?  The paper is yellowed and fragile from age.  This is a full comic page but only the paper doll has been scanned.

Under Construction

Wait!  What is going on?!  Don't worry.  My website blog will be updated soon.  After I move this week I will be reorganizing and fixing up my past blog post.  I may even add a watermark to my scans so if they wander away from the website it still leads you back to the source.  I do not know how long it will take.  I plan on sorting through the tags and making some separate places for non-paper doll items such as doll pictures, sketches and other things I've posted in the past. Be patient please.  I am also trying to edit my paper dolls so that they can print easier on 8.5X11 paper.
