makeup flip book

So this ad not exactly a paper doll, but I thought the concept was pretty interesting.  It's a mix and match face with different makeup on the eyes, cheeks, and lips. There are five different faces with three different sections to make 15 combinations.  From Covergirl.  The beauty products are on the left side to help identify which product is used on the model.

La Dee Da (not paper dolls)

Ok, so these are fashion dolls, not paper dolls, but I saw them and had to blog about it.  From Spin Master toys comes La Dee Da.  They have really really really big heads!  tiny feet, paint everywhere on the face, and over stylized outfits.  I'm not sure if I love them or hate them...  the quality of these dolls in person was not impressive (especially at $19.99 a piece) but I like the overall concept a little.  For more visit http://www.ladeeda.com but be patient because it has to load

Happy Birthday paper dolls

Copyright 1988 by Joyce Statford.  One very large sheet with a fold in the middle and staples possibly from a magazine.  The page was scanned by halves and some of the outfits did not fit on the scanner. I really like the concept of the two girls holding hands and wearing matching outfits with a younger sister  wearing a coordinating outfit.  I separated the pages because they didn't fit on my scanner and also so they can be printed on 81/2 by 11 paper but it cuts up some of the outfits. I might try to stitch the images into one large image and post that later.  There are 4 outfits for each girl and some party accessories as well as two hats.

Natasha ballerina

From a magazine, most likely Doll World or something similar. She has two beautiful costumes, one from the Waltz of the Flowers from the Nutcracker and the other is Cinderella.  The artist did not sign the pages, so I do not know who drew this lovely paper doll.  There may be more outfits for this doll, but I am not sure.

vintage advertisement doll

A darling early advertisement doll with bright colorful flowers. For some reason I didn't scan in the back of this doll?  Snatched her off of eBay for just a few dollars. (I think the total was about $5 after shipping cost.  She is from 1895 according to one of my paper doll reference books, making her the oldest doll in my collection (although technically she belongs to my mother) The back is an ad for Enameline from J.L. Prescott and C0. New York. For sale by all dealers (the bottom proclaims) There is a little poem printed that goes like this:

Every lady in the land
Now has a Polish at her hand,
And think it better than a bar,
More quickly used, much better far,
Easy, clean, bright of shine,
Lovley, she says,
In saving time.
None was ever seen like,
Enameline.

Paper doll place mat

This is one of the stranger items I have found.  It is a place mat with a paper doll on it!  It's laminated and measures 17x11.  The title says Camellia Girl, the artist is Aico Gautz 1986.  the copyright is for Sacramento Pioneer Doll Club and then list the address.  It also has a stamp with Chinese (I believe) characters. The artwork is really lovely and done in colored pencil (I believe).  She has four outfits with a flower head wreath and a doll with one outfit.

Zappos Ad

A cute and cleaver Zappos Ad featuring a paper doll.  Not sure if those shoes actually fit her but the concept is well thought out.  There's even a code to a dress up link online if you have a smart phone.  Copyright 2011.  Nice to go through magazines and still find the occasional paper doll.
